What each technology is
Both mono PERC and TOPCon are built on monocrystalline silicon cells, the high-efficiency base used in most modern panels. The difference is in the cell architecture. Mono PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell) adds a reflective layer on the back of the cell to capture more light, and it has been the dominant mainstream technology for years. TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) is a newer structure that reduces electrical losses at the contacts, squeezing more efficiency out of the same silicon.
Efficiency and energy yield
TOPCon modules generally reach higher conversion efficiency than mono PERC, meaning more watts from the same panel area. Degradation over time

Mono PERC remains cheaper per watt, which is its main advantage, and it is a proven, widely available technology. TOPCon costs modestly more but delivers higher yield and better longevity. The choice depends on your priority. If the goal is the lowest upfront cost per watt and space is not tight, mono PERC is sensible. If you want maximum energy from limited space and the best lifetime economics, TOPCon is increasingly the better buy as its price premium narrows.
